The Official Crystal Palace Yarns Blog

News about Crystal Palace Yarns: new yarns, new colors, new patterns and links to other blogs showing CPY yarns.

Saturday, October 20, 2007

I've been really bad not posting here for so long! But Laura is doing such a smashingly good job of updating the Socks-and-More CPY blog that I've been lazy. Be sure to visit the Socks+ blog for lots of great looking knits with an emphasis on CPY sock yarns, but also much more!
[Plus, we are having a Visiting Contest to win balls of our new Panda Silk, due at end November - so pop over and sign up for the drawing.]

Meanwhile, I'm working away to get a lot of the new patterns for our yummy Merino 5, superwash Merino (5/inch) yarn up on our web site. Merino 5 retails for under $7 at most yarn shops! See all the Merino 5 colors HERE

Here are a few photos of the new patterns due very soon!

Below is my 19 mos old grandson, Marcelo, wearing a new cardigan.

Below is a lovely Teddy Bear Motif Baby Blanket knit with 2 strands held together.
This pattern is posted here: Teddy Bear Blanket in Merino 5

But we're not just focusing on babies and toddlers - we have several women's sweaters coming in Merino 5, too. Below is a stunning flared Eyelet Sweater, a block textured stitch short sleeve, and a striped pullover using a printed and coordinating solid color. And there will be more to come.

Remember, all the CPY patterns are free on our web site and we encourage knitting shops carrying our CPY yarns to share the patterns with their knitters who are buying our yarns.

Does anyone have any patterns for A Crystal Palace Yarn named Country Silk. It is 100% silk and I have about 1000 Yards that was given to me some time back that I would like to use. I can't seem to find any intstructions for this particular yarn

Hi Linda,

That yarn was discontinued about 10 years ago - we did have patterns, but no longer in print.

If you use a DK gauge you should be about right for it - 100% silk isn't elastic like wool - so use it in a pattern without much ribbing. A cotton pattern would match better than a wool pattern.

Hi,

Thanks for commenting on my blog. I actually don't knit very tightly. I seems weird that they would bend so much after just a few uses. I have a second one that is about to break. (I'm trying to finish the toe of my sock before it breaks.) I posted my concern on Ravelry, and another knitter said she had several sets of Crystal Palace Bamboo dpns break that she bought in 2007. It was uncommon in her opinion, because your needles are usually very strong. Is there anyway I could get a replacement set? The needles are so bent it is uncomfortable to knit with, so I can't use them anymore.

Thank you,
Rachel

Susan, thanks for visiting my blog. I have been wanting to try my hand and designing a crocheted sock pattern and would love to try and do one for CPY. I can always use more yarn :)
